Snippet from Zeal grabbed from another board:

"And other than oil, the sentiment in copper is among the most bearish. Its early January plunge was among the worst as traders rushed to sell. The primary reason is rising LME copper stockpiles. But reports I have seen indicate that just as the European copper stockpiles rise, Asian stockpiles are steadily shrinking. Last year China largely switched its own copper consumption to its own stockpiles because it thought world prices were too high. So China’s market footprint was drastically reduced. Despite this, domestic copper consumption growth in China exceeded 15% last year! If China starts to rebuild its own copper stockpiles in 2007, and it has t odo this sooner or later, copper is going to catch a very big bid."
