NAND will replace DV tapes soon.

Not only iPot, MP3 player, notebook, and digital camera, but also all camcorders video cameras will be using NAND instead of DV tapes.

Compared to DV tapes, fresh memory card/NAND is:

* Small size and light weight
* Consuming less power
* True random-access - meaning easy to search and locate any part of the video (no sequential back-forward)
* No mechanics - meaning no-broken part
* No mechanics - meaning cheaper camcorder design and lower price
* Higher-quality

For HDTV camcorder recording, 3Mbyte/second (or 24 mbps) is needed. That means one hour HDTV recording takes about 10GB memory, which currently costs less than $50 - an affordable price.

We will see that every new camcorder design from now on use NAND rather than the cumbersome DV tape, be it STV of HDTV.
