Each version of the .NET Framework is designed to install on its own and also work side-by-side with other versions. You can install the .NET Framework 2.0 without first uninstalling 1.0 or 1.1 if you'd like. There are many applications that use the .NET Framework 2.0 so I'd recommend installing it so that all of those applications will work well. However, you could also wait and install the .NET Framework 2.0 when you want to use an application that specifically requires the .NET Framework
