Some themes to discuss: (1) US equity markets on the cusp of major bull market (it's been a bear market thus far if you look at market returns versus earnings growth). (2) Housing market is the wildcard. How will shutdown of subprime mortgage finance affect the economy as a whole? Phase 2/3 of the housing bear in 2007 is most likely. (3) Dollar and Gold. All else equal, appreciation in gold and depreciation in dollar look to be contained. But does (2) ultimately affect (3) vis a vis Fed action to contain (2)???
