No you are mistaken on that. A few points on Iran and nuclear inspections:

(1) Iran signed the original NPT. At some point in time (I think in the '90s) the nuclear club changed the rules and asked everyone to sign the "New and Improved" NPT. Iran refused. They are honoring all their obligations under their signed agreement.

(2)Even though they were not required to do so (under either the original or the new NPT) Iran agreed to intrusive inspections and allowed them in for some time (I think 2 years). They only dropped their *voluntary* intrusive inspections when it became obvious no matter how much they cooperate, the Bush admin is not going to be satisfied.

(3) Iran has offered several solutions to the nuclear problem, which would seem more than reasonable to anyone without malice. (a) They offered the nuclear plants to be structured as a joint venture with the West and with western management and board of directors. The enriched uranium would be marketed to everyone, including the Iranian power plants and the profits will be shared by all parties. (b) They've offered to pass legislation that would make it illegal to create highly enriched uranium. (c) Iran would agree to intrusive inspections by IAEA.

I am still to find anyone, including any of the hawks, who can explain why these measures are insufficient.

To suggest that the problem is over the level of inspections (or lack there of) is highly misleading.
