""Segolene Royal unveiled a long-awaited platform Sunday that promises to boost the minimum wage and pension payments.

Among her proposals, Royal said she would raise the monthly minimum wage to $1,950 from the current $1,630. She also pledged to raise pensions for low-income retirees by 5 percent, and said the jobless should continue to receive 90 percent of their salary for their first year of unemployment.

In addition, Royal said she would build 120,000 units of state-subsidized housing and offer every young person a $13,000 loan to get started in life and free birth control for women under 25.
