Kolin Tap European Market for LCD TVs
2007/02/07

Taipei, Feb. 7, 2007 (CENS)-- Kolin Group Inc. is to contract First International Computer Inc. to supply LCD TVs, and projects to deliver 100,000 LCD TVs to the European market, mainly Germany, Britain, and France, through its reinvested sales arm, SyntaxBrillia, in the second half of 2007, according to Liu Chilei, head of the company.

After posting annual revenue of NT$15 billion on total shipment of 600,000 LCD TVs in 2006, Kolin is expected to double its shipment to 1.2 million units this year, generating annual revenue of NT$20 billion, for a 30% growth from last year.

Recently, Kolin and SyntaxBrillia have successfully ventured their LCD TVs into the U.S. and Chinese markets under a joint brand, Olevia, which has squeezed into the top-five brands in the U.S. over the past two years.

Furthermore, the two companies plan to penetrate the European market with their 32- and 40-inch LCD TVs through existing sales channels of Vivitar, the local brand fully acquired by SyntaxBrillia, according to Liu.

After posting an aggregate sales volume of 1 million LCD TVs around the world, Kolin has unveiled a series of new products, including 42-inch 1080p HD LCD TV, 65-inch LCD TV and LCOS digital projection TV.

Noteworthy is that display panels of 65-inch LCD TVs are sourced from Japan-based Sharp. This makes Kolin the first Taiwanese LCD TV maker acquiring 65-inch display panels from Sharp.
