Warp 10 Set to Join Industry Leaders in Establishing Standard Protocols for Digital Imaging
TORONTO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1997--
Group To Set Foundation For Digital Imaging Products
And Solutions For The Future Unveiled At Seybold,
San Francisco, Today
Warp 10 Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: WARPF; CDN: WARP), is set to join the Digital Imaging Group (DIG), an open consortium whose mission is to promote the growth of digital imaging by defining a common platform for imaging solutions.
Founding members of DIG are Adobe Systems Incorporated, Canon, Eastman Kodak Company, Fuji, Hewlett-Packard Company, IBM, Intel, Live Picture Inc. and Microsoft.
DIG is being unveiled today at a press conference at Seybold at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, 11:30 AM - noon, PST, Room 228, Mezzanine.
The Digital Imaging Group (DIG) is a not-for-profit industry consortium. It plans to establish a solid and interoperable technical foundation for digital imaging products and solutions for the future. This technical foundation is based on FlashPix and Internet Imaging Protocol (IIP), which, like Warp 10's imaging technology WarpRes, make possible new levels of interactivity with images of any size in even the most bandwidth constrained environments.
``We are looking forward to being part of this important group that is committed to defining the standards for the digital imaging solutions of tomorrow,'' said Marvin Igelman, President and CEO of Warp 10 Technologies Inc. ``We at Warp 10 believe that by incorporating FlashPix and IIP into the architecture of our complimentary imaging technology, WarpRes, we will be able to retain the unique value added of our interactive imaging solutions yet still be part of an open and interoperable environment.''
WarpRes allows the end user to retrieve virtually any combination of resolution, dimension and color quality of high-content images on a completely ``open system'' architecture. WarpRes also dramatically reduces downloading time and storage requirements of image files and therefore allows greater flexibility in managing these ``digital assets.''
WarpRes has been endorsed by the Art Museum Network (AMN) as its exclusive digital imaging technology. Currently, Warp 10 is co-developing an application with the AMN called MuseumRes to bring the greatest art works of North America's leading museums to desktops around the world via the Internet. AMN represents 200 of the foremost museums in North America through the Association of Art Museum Directors (AAMD).
WarpRes will be demonstrated at Seybold, October 1-3, 1997 at the Digital Imaging Group booth #4809 North Hall in the Moscone Center, San Francisco.
DIG is dedicated to working together with all member organizations to build a bridge from existing systems to whole new solutions, and to promote the benefits of digital imaging to wider audiences worldwide.
Warp 10 builds tools that enable an open distributed trading environment for digital media assets. Such tools partnered with other vendor technologies allows media asset holders to maximize creative and financial gain.
