It's to their advantage for the US to die a death of many cuts in Iraq.

It may also be to their advantage to calculate how many cuts the US will take before cutting back.

And it's to the advantage of the US to blame the failure in Iraq on someone else and/or to have an excuse for bombing their nuclear facilities. Even if they did stop it wouldn't do them any good.

Do you really think the Bush admin wants to bomb Iran? I don't: too much to lose, too little to gain. I don't think the Iranians want to be bombed, either, and it wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that a deal is in the works. One part of the deal may be tossing MA to the sharks: he's become a liability both domestically and internationally, and would make a quite convenient scapegoat for a lot of things.

We'll see...
