The purpose of school vouchers is to get kids out of bad schools and introduce competition between the public and private school systems.

Unfortunately, I think the most likely consequence of school vouchers would be to turn public schools into dysfunctional dumping grounds for the kids of parents who don't give a shit.

I don't like the idea of vouchers; it seems chickenshit to me. I like the idea of squaring off withe the problem and making public schools work. Unfortunately, that means taking on the NEA, and the politicians haven't got the cojones to do it.
