The govt. paying private contractors is still very different from vouchers. Private contractors are providing some kind of immediate goods and services. They compete with each other and are part of the market economy.

To me vouchers fall into the 'social giveaway' area as Republicans like to call welfare type programs. You guys seem to resent food stamps and you sure don't like raising the minimum wage, but you want to help poor folks send their kids to private schools? That makes no sense at all

So again, why are you guys trying to add to the social welfare beaurocracy and enlarge the scope of Govt.?? Shrinking government has been part of the Republican mantra forever, no matter what Bush does or does not say.
