So why do Republicans claim that leaving Iraq would be a disaster? There were two themes that ran through the Republican pro-Bush yammering:

1. Leaving Iraq would be a disaster.
2. Leaving wouldn't let Republicans pretend they haven't failed miserably.

So four years into this mess, after saying it would be over in about 6 months and cost (horrors) about $50 billion, Republicans are claiming that it will take YEARS and another $240 billion (for a total of $750 billion) or there will be a disaster.

What a curious statement. It's like a contractor coming to fix a leaky faucet and, four years later, claiming that the entire house will have to be torn down and rebuilt from scratch because he not only DID NOT fix the faucet, he tore all of the plumbing apart.

Said contractor would then jump up and down and scream that it was all the neighbor's fault, the home owner's fault, everyone else's fault.

Time to fire the contractor and all of his evil little minions.

:)
