VSEA up only 2% in pre-market on the news that the gorilla of the industry is throwing in the towel in their space AND an upgrade by a major brokerage house. In any other sector this would be good for a double digit percentage increase, at the minimum. Only shows how apathetic people are to this industry.

And what do they do besides state the bleeding obvious?

J.P. Morgan Securities said Applied Materials Inc.'s plan to exit the beamline ion implant products market was a uniquely positive development for Varian.

--J.P. Morgan Securities said Applied Materials Inc.'s (AMAT.O: Quote, Profile , Research) plan to exit the beamline ion implant products market was a uniquely positive development for Varian.

--The brokerage said it added Varian to its U.S. Equity Focus List, raised its earnings-per-share estimates for the semiconductor equipment maker and set a March 2008 price target of $58 on the stock. (Reporting by Shailesh Kuber in Bangalore)
