Yes, this is pretty damned bad news. I've read some stuff about it elsewhere - people who are working with bee diseases. Plenty of concern.
What I'm beginning to wonder is if they may have been infected with a fungal disease developed to kill other insects. There are a lot of people working on such things and, at some point you have to wonder if they might accidentally develop a disease that not only kills target species, but other creatures as well.
