it's not that she needs to impress anyone really, she just likes the purses. the purses are better made and don't go out of style.

there are easier ways to impress people than with a purse though. We just donated about 100 pieces of baby clothing to her mother's workplace. The average person there makes 8 per hour. they had a 17 person auction for the clothes, the person with the lowest number got to choose first, 5 pieces and then the next person went. we had grandma's for their grand children, mothers and fathers for their own kids. it was an absolute madhouse, they had to do the auction over a PA system to keep it orderly. I'm probably going to buy another $1,000 in baby clothes from Walmart and do the whole thing again sometime this month or after I move.

so, a nice mix of luxury purses and charity donations should keep the bourgeois guilt at bay.
