When I was We, We kept bees. Had to deal with the first 3; that was bad enuf. (And bears) Lost a few colonies, but I'm not sure if that was the reason. I think it was the tracheal mites, but there was a period of a few years when there were supposed to be no wild honey bees left in the state. They've come back, maybe from swarms by domestic bees. I saw a lot more bumblebees during that period. And they fly better in cold conditions.
