Do what I do guys. I live at the top of a hill and my driveway is straight, fortunately, but pretty steep...the steepest one on the street. Thru the years I've taken out my own mailbox and my neighbors mailboxes a few time. And I've taken out my neighbor's split rail fence across the street and rutted out the yard next door, etc.

So now I chip/dig out one lane up the drive in a heavy ice/snowstorm.

In lighter precipitation, I just clear off a swatch at the very top of the driveway, back across the street, and make a running start(s) which eventually allows my front wheels to snag the bare pavement.

I'm not in to hoeing, mowing, or shoveling snow so this has worked great for me. <g>
