Ford has a trump card in the Lincoln electric clutch on the drive shaft for rear wheel drive cars. The inertia of Lincoln being a heavy car save half the gas consumption by coasting whenever accelerator is released. If this is applied to all the Ford Ltd and Mercury even Mustang, Ford will have a good technology and fuel consumption savings to boot. Recovery will be quicker than 2009 for sure.
