An article I just read stated that there are some taxonomic discrepencies in terms of the immunoserological properties and the fungal isolates may not be totally identical to the tropical species of Crypto. It might be a new serotype. Might, is the key word here. The experts aren't 100% sure. They treat the infection with Voriconazole and it can't be associated solely with immunocompromised patients or animals...............however, it appears to be zoonotic. Aspirgillis is more of a secondary invader type that thrives in immunocompromised patients. Specifically, transplant patients and patients undergoing large doses of chemotherapy.
