From what I've read, it seemed to me that the civil unrest, violence, etc. was economic in origin. A large pool of mostly Muslim people that were either unemployed or underemployed.

This group is also young on average so the combination does lend itself to violent outbursts. Much like the ghetto burnings, etc. in Watts and other places.

I've read that the high unemployment in Iraq is a major contributor to the violence there.

I don't think my own community would stay civilized very long with 50% and above unemployment.

My conclusion would simply be 'don't let an immigrant population of 10% fester in a state of underemployment or unemployment, REGARDLESS of their ethnicity or religion.'
