I don't see any of that old kind of religious referencing anymore.

What you see now are references like "Jewish extremeist" or "Muslim Extremist", etc. Religious affiliations are presented within a political context.

Usually the religion and race, etc. are buried somewhere in the text. Headlines used to say things like 'Black gunmen shoots up gas station." Now the black part is usually dropped, I think.
