<<My self interest in the ban isn't as strong as yours. I don't eat out as often and I'm not asthmatic. But I also dislike second hand smoke, I hate it when it gets really thick, but I'd still vote against the ban.>>

The city I live close to put in a ban on smoking where food or beverage is sold. County did the same ban BUT the small towns around were not under the ban. Place where I go to have coffee every day is down 75% on business. People are driving an extra 10 miles for their coffee. Smokers and non smokers alike. Non smokers have left so they can talk with the smokers, coffee with no conversation isn't all fun plus they don't like being bossed.

After the smoking ban the city says all cops have to issue 2 noise ordinance tickets a month or face the diciplinary board. That would be 8 times the tickets last year. Some parts of town a cop could issue 2 a day. However in 3/4 of the town people are very quiet. They'll get tickets for mowing at noon.
