Liberal versus conservative: In the US a liberal is one who is not only comfortable with changes in culture, but embraces it. A conservative does not like changes in culture so much. This is actually true worldwide. A conservative, is a conservative is a conservative-lol. And a liberal is a liberal is a liberal-worldwide. And most conservative countries do not like liberals. I know of no exceptions to this. It is couched in different terms in US politics, in that conservative's espouse small government and fiscal conservatism and tax cuts, no matter what. But over the last 40 years the conservatives have been the big spenders and have run up almost all of the deficit, not the liberals. In the US an interesting phenomonen is manifesting itself in that our population is separating itself by party. In the old days there were liberal and conservative democrats and liberal and conservaitve republicans. Today almost all of the conservative's are in the republican party and all the liberals are in the democratic party. And that is why they cannot get along. And in my opinion "never the twain shall meet"! There seems to be something fundamental separating liberal and conservative thinking. And whatever that is, it has been the main focus of my wonderment for almost my entire adult life. But one thing I can tell you, liberals and conservatives live in two different worlds and have a very difficult time communicating, thus the gridlock in our congress. The evangelical christians vote almost entirely republican and the liberals are whatever the rest of the people are-lol. The social issues are pretty clear cut along party lines as well. I see no change in our congress, only a hardening of positions going forward.
