I noted your "United Statian". Like you, I've been frustrated by the lack of a word for people from the USA. Your suggestion is the best I've heard. It isn't perfect, but we are unlikely to get anything better. If we two start using it perhaps it'll catch on. I think your efforts to enlighten koan regarding the meaning of the word "liberal" might have been fruitless. In his mind it is synonymous with the word "goodie" (just as for those United Statians on the other side it means "baddie"), and any idea that appears inconsistent with that will not take.
