For a long time the medical profession denied that Aids could be transmitted via any mode other than gay sex. They have now included exchange of blood and saliva as possible avenues. For one emergency situation in the 1980's in our family the doctor had to give immediate blood transfusions-----the doctor warned that there was always a possibility of contracting a disease including Aids as they were unable to screen the donated blood thoroughly. I did a little reading on Magic Johnson to see how he may have gotten the virus-----not clear----one site claims that he was not gay and had sex with at least 500 women and could have gotten it that way. Rather than post these links go to Google and read. If that's the case then any of them could have been infected. Another political side of Aids-----in the mid 1990's China required visitors to be Aids free and have a record showing a negative test. Despite these precautions China is now experiencing an increase in Aids. That leads to what to do about immigrants--------do we test immigrants for Aids and other major illnesses? Should we have a policy of not accepting immigrants with Aids. mj
