In the spirit of that wonderful message, might I mention that you can often buy powerless tools, hammers, planes, bit and brace thingies and lots of other good stuff at flea markets or auctions..
Also PBS frequently has different series about living in the past, fun to watch, and educational too. The are also places like the Society for a Creative Anachronism that show you how people lived. I have a partial set of house builders tools, and a full set of boatmakers tools, all from the 1910 or 11 era. I am going to replace some of the drill bits and stuff, new ones seem to be sharper, but I will keep the old ones.
