Remember, Steve, when you were upset about my saying that there was a Arkansas woman in her early 20s who said on national tv that she didn't know the word nigger was bad until she became an adult; that she had heard it said numerous times growing up in Arkansas. I don't remember your exact words but I do remember their tone.....you were annoyed and a bit indignant. The implicit message was that the I or the woman were making up the story.

Well, yesterday, unexpectantly, my cousin in law from FLA called. We were talking about a problem she is having with a woman she knows. She was going on and on and suddenly said, that woman is no better than a "white nigger". After she said it, she stopped......it was at that point she remembered to whom she was speaking. Eventually the conversation resumed but we both were uncomfortable and soon after, she got off the phone and my cousin got on. My cousin in law is an intelligent, well educated woman who grew up in the central part of FLA. It was clear from her delivery she uses the term nigger much more frequently but refrains from doing so when talking to me.
