Yesterday, a daughter of a friend became a Reverend ( it's going to be hard to think of her as a Reverend but she did it! ).

The minister that gave the general discussion piece at her ordination ceremony talked about the right wing indirectly. Every one knew he was talking about Bush's flock but he didn't use his name. We were looking at one another and smiling.

He stressed that we all should pretend we are on the other side and try hard to imagine ourselves as the enemy. He added that we should all be careful to avoid the old "Hell and Brimstone" techniques so that we avoid those inevitable guilt trips that turn us into prey for those predator preachers........LOL It was great hearing those words from a wise old pastor. The church he's from marries gays and cares deeply for the homeless.......they are highly progressive.

My friend had to get a MS in Divinity to be a minister. She's a great gal who has worked very hard to achieve her position and it will be interesting to watch what happens to her.

One of the Rev there had been arrested while lying down in front of the Capitol with some Bishops in his church. HE was protesting the Iraq War. Many of the Rev's in that church are activists for some cause whether it be anti-war, pro-field worker's rights, or homeless advocates.
