Saddam may have been ignorant of the West in some major ways, but he was also in to self preservation.

Then why didn't he take the UAE's offer of exile immediately prior to the 2nd Iraq war? He could have lived a pampered life of a $100 millionaire in the playland of Dubai. Instead he chose to hide in a dirty rabbit hole on some God forsaken farm in a desert. That's something I still don't understand one bit.
