You've got the shoe on the other foot again.

It's neither my foot, nor my shoe. I've just relayed what history came to me in England.

You might notice in the text you cited... "24 August 1940, some German aircraft strayed over London". Does "strayed" sound like an intentional bombing on the part of the German military command? But that's the history you cite.

I'll be certain not to pass on British thoughts on the American Civil War.

I used to believe the conventional wisdom that the victor writes the history. It turns out that everyone gets to write their own history. We just don't generally know what they've written.
