For someone who doesn't claim follow the industry closely, you have a great understanding of this issue. The so-called "7 Billion" in synergies will not materialize, for precisely the reasons you mentioned.

Trying to creatively use these two radically different technologies seems like a very difficult proposition.

I really hope they don't do this.
