The idea of acting on the conjecture of Global Warming Religious fanatics most dire story lines reminds me of a children's book. It was about a Fox that tried to trick a chicken into making an easy meal of itself for the fox. Everyone ran around yelling "the sky's a falling." In the end nobody cared.

No, actually, there's a much better analogy. You see, there's a *real* story of a country that, acting on a bunch of fairy tales about yellow cake and happy people tossing flowers, decided to spend billions bombing the crap out of another country, and got itself into a big mess that it couldn't get out of.

However, on second thought, the Global Warming story isn't a good comparison because it won't end up in such a big mess. The worst that might happen is people might end up driving cars with better fuel efficiency... the air in cities might end up being a lot cleaner and healthier... and the world might find somewhere else to get its energy rather than being held hostage by a handful of troublemakers.

See, the two stories aren't really anything the same, are they? One has a crappy ending, and the other will probably turn out rather well.
