@Eracer - R6xx " How difficult will it be to manufacture R600 based cards given the power and cooling requirements, along with the 512-bit memory interface "
You could assume, that these will be slightly more expansive compared to high-end Nvidia, but who cares, if AMD could establish the CLEAR lead? I think it will be worth to put 10$ more overall down the line ...
" How will yields be on such a high clocked GPU? "
ATIs DIE is smaller compared to Nvidias, you should better ask Nvidia how good their yields are?
" How much more expensive will the cooling be compared to that of the 8800GTX? "
Again, look at the picture, the cooling stuff for the high- end ATIs isn't that different compared to Nvidia. Just go to CPUs, where you could have a feeling for pricing. If, and thats a big if, AMD needs a slightly better cooling device , the spread is in the 2-3$ region. Again, if they reach with that the performance crown, I don't complain.
" Will yields be high enough to meet demand "
I don't know, why do you repeat yourself? This topic is even more an Nvidia topic.
" Will AMD have to resort to lowered clock rates and lowered performance just to get this thing out the door in reasonable quantities? "
I don't know, why you always assume, that Nvidia has good or much better yields with a bigger DIE at the same foundry? Strange ...
" Will future mainstream cards based on the R600 also use significantly more power than their NVIDIA counterparts "
No.
" When will those parts be available? "
April.
