eracer, It's not the only pathway. The other path is holding a significant performance lead over Intel in roughly three out of every four years. The other pathway does not appear to be open at this time, so to move forward, AMD has to move through the one that is open - higher volume. BTW, the socket wins will help help in the future, when the other path (better performance competitiveness) is opened, which will hopefully be with the K8L line of processors. Joe
