This writer forgot to mention several key factors:

Each year it takes more and more wells to keep production the same. The big targets are all gone and depletion advances every year.

Consumption is steadily increasing.

The US will likely close the heating season with storage under 1400, i.e. below average for this time of year, after starting the season with an immense glut.

This shows how finally balanced ng supply and demand remain. Just one weather event or natural or human-caused disaster could create a major runup in natural gas.

There are other factors to consider, but since this is a mining thread I will stop there and go eat some dinner.
