Why airscoop is sexy?

The concept of speed somehow got airscoop to mean high power and speed of car designs.

In real racing technology of formula 1 and Nascar racing air scoops are used to cool brakes.

Then sirscoops are used for charging the intake manifold with extra air pressure to help fuel combustion.

Its cheap and its styling effective, also helps to break more efficiently. Buick is famous for airscoops on the front fenders as their trademark.
