one guess:

there are a shit load of day traders that have been riding Dell for 15 years. A very large group.

Their misguided play might be that now that Michael Dell is back that no matter what HP reported, now would be the time to Hedge-- sell HP buy Dell.

The problem with that thinking may be my theory, that it is over for Dell. That Dell has been financing PC sales to gain sales, much like General Motors, and now that that finance market has turned, they can't lay off the paper [as easily] anymore.

CPQ is gone as a printer supplier and cost center to them.

The HPC and large server market has not yet devolved to the commodity type business that Dell as a fast follower makes its money at. (Let HP educate, and Dell make the sale.)

And Lenovo is eating them a new one at the lower end.

But there are Billions that have been riding the Dell train for 10 years and they do not yet know that they have already left the station, so to speak.

This "Dell" hot money can surely move the market for a couple of months before reality sets in.

And who knows, maybe Dell will yet pull a rabbit out of the CD slot and this will continue for a couple of years.

But eventually, Peter will chat with Paul and it will be "faw down go boom" time at Dell and that hot money may go into HP or it just may leave.

:))
