a) Of course it's happening due to human activity. Six billion people on this planet is bound to have an impact.

b) No, there isn't anything we can do to lessen its results. So the greenhouse effect adjusts to a new equilibrium. We'll just have to adapt. The human race has survived tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes, and even plagues. I think we can survive a rise in temperature of a few degrees Celcius.
