I have believed this to be the case for a long time, although I think AMD's yields are indeed low.

To announce that the product isn't selling means to admit that AMD hasn't a prayer.

Since most folks don't understand "yields", this concept presents a nice petticoat for Jerry to hide behind and baffle the analysts. These same analysts then feel sorry for the poor struggling AMD engineers who are doing their darndest to overcome formidable odds and compete with Intel.

However, judging by AMD's stock performance today, the analysts are wising up to sly ol' Jerry.
