HSBC Bank USA names new CEO with immediate effect By Simon Kennedy Last Update: 6:26 AM ET Feb 22, 2007 LONDON (MarketWatch) -- HSBC Bank USA said its president and CEO Sandy Derickson is leaving the firm with immediate effect and is being replaced by Paul Lawrence, who is currently head of corporate, investment banking and markets in North America. "In light of the management changes at HSBC, I have decided that this is a good time for me to take a long-desired break from work so that I have more time for my own interests and my family," Derickson said in a statement. Earlier in February, parent company HSBC Holdings (UK:HSBA : 907.00, -1.50, -0.2% ) warned that its bad debt charge would top $10.5 billion -- 20% higher than expectations -- because an increasing number of U.S. mortgage customers have been unable to keep up their payments. They are running a commercial, offering 5 and 6% interest on savings accounts. Guess they're looking for some liquidity. So, I moved my regular savings account.
