re: The Bush defenders might have a point that if one squints and waves their hands that the SotU address wasn't strictly a lie. Some people point out that the precision of the language, that they have always gone right to the edge of an outright lie without passing, proves their intent to deceive. They must know the lie is a lie if they avoid it so assiduously. But then they all, as a team, leave the same false impression. A great propaganda machine.
