The right has loathed MSM coverage of the war from start, saying that the MSM has steadfastly portrayed the most negative picture possible from Iraq, passed along insurgent propaganda with greater credence than they give to the US military, and constantly portrayed US troops as either victims or perpetrators of crimes, with hardly any mention of what missions they were doing or when they did anything well.
That's correct there has been little reporting about how 2,000 Iraqi troops are trained up the level where they can take the place of 1,000 US troops so those 1,000 US troops can leave Iraq and come home. That's been the main "mission" of the coalition troops since the fall of Saddam's regime. Are you telling us that type of thing is happening, but it's not getting reported?
There have been some Medals of Honor awarded in Iraq. The highest miliary honor. Did you read about them? Do you know what they were given for?
The good news out of Iraq isn't supposed to be about the US military winning honors, it is supposed to be the emergence of an peaceful, secular Iraq that is able to govern itself. If that is taking place, your right, it is not being reported in the US media. Of course, the need to send an additional 20k troops is indicative that the mission is not succeeding, but don't blame the media for it. |
