I think the media should report what happened, the troops should explain exactly what you just wrote, and the public will understand. I understand, you understand, why do you think the public won't? We all know of instances when the troops have filled cars with families full of bullets, and we realize that it happens because terrorists use cars, often filled with families, as weapons.

Anyway, I'm not sure what you're recommending, that the BBC be banned from reporting on the incident? If the BBC reported such thing with extreme prejudice, the military should just invite 20 BBC reporters to man 20 checkpoints with them for a one month period to help the BBC better understand the circumstances. Hell, let the BBC reporter stand up so one coalition soldier can stand down!
