I would think the glory days are when we collectively have great discussions and make a ton of money placing the proper 'bets' in the stock market.

I'd agree with that and add that the thread be civil and on-topic.

Yes there have been great threads here over the years but if you lost money from it how is that good?

Personally, I think "losing money" depends on the time frame. If you've read this thread, believe there's been a credit bubble, and protected yourself by being long miners (without being over leveraged) you've made money. Richard Russell says the best way to become rich in the stock market is to recognize early on where the bull market is, take a big position, and let it ride. I've done that. Reading this thread helped me maintain my convictions through corrections.

BTW, the same goes for the RE thread. Yeah, if you initiated a short position anytime between last August and the first of the year, you probably lost money. But if you had been reading the thread for quite some time, realized the market was bursting in mid-late 05, and shorted every rally, you're still ahead.

Odd this discontent going on just as the credit bubble finally is imploding both from a news and related stock price collapse finally unwinding.. Perhaps that is a sign?

I don't know there's any more discontent than usual. Bulls and bears have argued forever. This board deteriorated because Russ didn't control it - he decided to put his time into his blog. IMO it was a good choice and a much better use of his time.

When we look back on this down leg now unfolding the top as far as the Wall Street 'mafia' trying to screw the greatest amount of people in the shortest period of time will probably be the false breakout in many builders and the announced merger of two mortgage insurers a couple of weeks ago.

There's absolutely no question the bulls will look back on this period and shake their heads at how incredibly stupid they were.
