Robert Syputa here;

There are many coming out with IPR reports. I started working on my database as Senior Analyst at Maravedis about a year ago> Since I had no done a full IPR report before, and there isn't an industry database for WiMAX or LTE similar to 3GPP and other sponsored efforts I set out to develop one from scratch (except for the meager lists IEEE 802.16 has). I have about 6,000 patent files in a 4.6 G byte database that has a nice integrated interface for doing segmenting, searching, downloading, viewing, rating, analyzing and graphing of the patents. When ABI and other large firms saw what I ws doing (gave a presentation that talked about it at last year's WiMAX World and other conventions, they must have started their projects.)
"Qualcomm's hold on the market, that companys acquisitions of Flarion and Airgo give it essential IP in all 4G technologies." -ABI

ABI has turned around from saying everyone should license from Qualcomm, one of their big clients, to now saying things like this. Much more circumspect. But they are idiots if they think Airgo's patents mean much to WiMAX. There are hundreds of patents already on MIMO-AAS technologies and many of those are designed more for the long distance operation (symbol timing) and SOFDMA used in WiMAX and LTE than for OFDM-256 used in WiFi. Flarion has brought several patents to Qualcomm but ABI is still sucking the wrong tit.. they need to do their own research instead of listing to any company feed them the story line. You have to actually READ the patents not just the titles, to understand them.
