As far as I can tell from reading benchmark tests, and from my own experience with P100 and P200 computers, the real world performance of Intel based computers has not kept up with the increase in clock speed, especially considering that Windows 3.11 works fine with 16 MB RAM but you really need 32 MB RAM with Windows 95 (of course the memory is a lot cheaper now). This is one of the reasons AMD has been able to catch up. Intel badly needs faster memory (we will have to wait for Merced for this) as well as the 440BX and 100 MHz bus speed. Nothing available today would tempt me to replace my P200MMX. I suspect most of us want at least 50% or 60% better real world performance before we upgrade. I think Intel sales will really take off starting next summer, because they will be offering something people really want that is more than a marginal improvement over what they have now.
