For manually entered street addresses I tried to let it recalculate a few times when I deviated from the planned route. It seemed to go nuts on me and would be of no help. For me either staying on the exact route or just starting the process over from my new spot works at close to 100% accuracy.. For the I-Pod I use a $30 plug and play cassette with jack into the original factory stereo cassette deck. The mount for me personally makes an incredible difference regarding ease of use, convenience and safety.
