Yes, he could be the top candidate in a what is a complex game of brinkmanships going on, it seems..
If he/Russia is the supplier we are getting an ingredient added that compares to pre-WWI, where alliances were getting unclear because of backdoor moves--Russia is now, it seems, sending two signals, there is a fog building over who is on whose side, really.We can say for sure, China does NOT want anything to disrupt the supply of crude oil from Iran to China(it accounts for 17% of China's supply)
But also U.S. is convinced China would make no hostile move against U.S. as their strategist feel China MUST have U.S. at the Beijing Olympics in 2008, this is China's Coming Out Party.
The 2008 Olympics is now a major operative on China Policy.
i know it is hard to believe a sporting event is of tantamount importance to Beijing , but it is, imHo.
So this is another issue generating fog.Max

Upshot, the more the fog forms the greater the danger of matters getting out of hand, imo.Max
