Iran has fake elections where the 3/4 of the candidates who don't agree with the ruling mullahs don't get on the ballot. Then the ruling council of "Guardians" (mullahs) keeps the power in its own hands anyway.

But the Iranian mullahs, who have the right to reject candidates from running in the civil government elections, are themselves elected, correct? From what I understand of it, Iran is reasonably Democratic.

China is also fairly Democratic, but it only has one political party. I think anyone can join the C party, and then potentially get elected to lead the party for a limited duration.
