Nadine, you can GUESS all you want.

What you can't do is support your "millions" figure because it's so inflated that the only way your right wing buddies can even say that is by including those who died in Cambodia and Laos, sovereign countries whose problems were not due to the post-occupation Vietnamese government.

And what you're missing with respect to Vietnam, and Iraq, is the terrible toll that occupation took, is taking, and the fact that the post occupation toll was inevitable. We will leave Iraq on terms not of our choosing just as we left Vietnam on terms not of our choosing, and it is what it is.

The reality of power isn't changed by "American will" or by "we can't afford to lose," words. The costs of staying in Vietnam far outweighed the benefits. History has shown us that if only we'll look. The cost of staying in Iraq will far outweigh the benefits. History is teaching us that at this very moment. Soon enough politicians and perceptive American voters will recognize that truth and we'll begin the process of recognizing the ugly truth that we've lost.

And someday your prodigy will scream that if only we'd stayed we'd have prevailed. And they'll prove it with the logic you use when you type; "Now it's true that I don't know if the Vietnamese dead actually reached a million, but in a country of 80 million undergoing forced collectivization, the figure is scarcely outlandish."

Maybe they'll find another willing, flag waving, send-someone-else's-kids majority willing to "believe" and start another generation's war. Ed
